Task Force Overview

On June 24, the Town Council adopted a Resolution on Developing New Community Approaches to Improve Racial Equity and Public Safety in Chapel Hill (2020-06-24/R-1). The Task Force will draw on community perspectives, Town department insights, and data from Chapel Hill
and other jurisdictions. It will consider best practices research and innovative ideas for identifying approaches to ensure public safety for everyone.

The mission of the Task Force is to bring forth concrete, actionable
recommendations to the Town Council that will achieve the following:
1) Increase public safety
2) Eliminate structural inequities in Town public safety systems; and
3) Enable all in the community to thrive.
