Winter Storm Inga dropped between 10 and 12 inches of snow on Chapel Hill Wednesday, and extremely low overnight temperatures have made clean-up efforts difficult. Crews have been working around the clock and will continue until the town is returned to normal.
Based on the anticipated forecast and discussions with the Emergency Management staff, Chapel Hill Transit will move the start time for service back to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan, 17.
The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chapel Hill Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday on Monday, Jan. 15. The CW, D and FG routes will be detoured from 9-10 a.m. during the rally and march on Franklin Street.
Most municipal offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Residential trash will not be collected Monday (make-up day is Wednesday, Jan. 17). Chapel Hill Public Library will be open 1-5 p.m. Chapel Hill Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule.
