About the project

This State Transportation Improvement Program funded project will enhance and extend the section of Weaver Dairy Road between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Erwin Road. The expected cost of the project is approximately $10 million. Construction began in October 2010 and is anticipated to be completed by July 2013.

The Project improvements are as follows:

  • One through travel lane in each direction with exclusive turn lanes and center turn lane to accommodate growing traffic volume
  • Bus pull-off areas
  • Designated Bicycle Lanes in both directions
  • Sidewalk on both sides
  • Raised center median areas to provide refuge for pedestrians and landscaping opportunities, where possible
  • Extension of Weaver Dairy Road to Sage Road
