Morgan Creek Pubic Input (300 x 251 px)The Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department kicks off a public input survey this month for the Morgan Creek Greenway East Section Extension. We're excited to hear the community's feedback.

The proposed extension is designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing Morgan Creek Trail, beginning at Merritt's Pasture and extending east towards Oteys Drive, and Manning Drive. The study explores various route possibilities along roadways and off-road corridors. Our goal is to identify the most favorable path forward.

Community members can provide feedback by taking an online survey or attending an in-person or virtual meeting to learn more about the study. Our online survey is open for public comment through Dec. 20, 2023.

In-person meetings are scheduled for:

  • Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, 12:30–1:45 p.m.,  Town of Chapel Hill Public Library, Meeting Room C
  • Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, 12:30–3:30 p.m., Morgan Creek Greenway Trailhead Parking Lot

"We encourage everyone to participate in one of the many input opportunities available," said Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Director Atuya Cornwell. “We look forward to partnering with our community during this design phase so the planned extension is appropriate and beneficial to all who'll use it."

Earlier this year, the Town Council approved American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding in the amount of $500,000 to be allocated for the Morgan Creek Greenway East Section design project.
