The Town of Chapel Hill’s Stormwater Management Division and UNC’s Institute for the Environment will present an introduction to stream ecology and describe how to become a Chapel Hill volunteer stream monitor on Monday, February 23, 2015. The class will be held at the NC Botanical Garden from 7-9pm.
Volunteers commit to attend training, conduct visual assessments, and clean litter from their 200’-300’ stream/creek segments at least quarterly each year. Volunteers may commit to various levels of participation, from conducting visual assessments to involving their neighborhoods in marking storm drains and participating in watershed improvement projects.
