Lane & Street Closure Procedures
Get a Lane/Sidewalk Closure Permit in 4 easy steps:
- Submit a brief letter or email - State the nature of the work, including dates & times you wish to be in the roadway or sidewalk. Submit at least 5 business days before your planned closure.
- Submit a Traffic Control Plan - Follow Chapter 6 of the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices). Show the proper work-zone signage and safe lane-closure methods (flaggers, cones, etc.).
- NC 811 - Provide positive response locate tickets.
- Pay your fees - Permit fee ($200.00) and Inspection fees ($60.00 per working day).
*Lane closures are only allowed 9am - 4pm Monday-Friday
