Traveling through downtown Chapel Hill will be difficult Wednesday evening as street closures will be in place in anticipation of a large crowd for Halloween on Franklin Street.
Manning Drive will be closed to through traffic the weekends of Oct. 26-29 and Nov. 9-12 for the removal of the pedestrian bridge connecting the Cardinal Parking Deck, Tarrson Hall and West Drive.
Wieland Construction Company will close Legion Road in front of the Hillstone Project from 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, through 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. The closure is necessary for the installation of a water line for the project.
Fordham Boulevard (U.S. Highway 15-501) near Eastowne Drive (near the old Blue Cross Blue Shield building, now owned by the State Employees Credit Union) has been reduced to one lane in each direction due to a motor-vehicle crash. Perry Creek Drive between Pebble Springs Road and 201 Perry Creek Dr. will close at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, for crews to begin repairs of the large stormwater drainage culvert underneath the driving surface.
Chapel Hill has seen a massive amount of rainfall in the last three days. The remnants of Hurricane Florence will continue late Monday night into Tuesday with even more rainfall, so flooding will continue.
