Homestead Skatepark Redesign, Renovation Moves Ahead
The project to redesign and renovate the Town’s skatepark at Homestead Park is moving ahead. This week, Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation staff are sharing renderings and requesting construction bids. The Town expects construction to begin in mid- to late-2025.

‘Every second counts:’ Life-Saving Health Technology Now Available at Several Chapel Hill Parks
The Town installed portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at four locations and plans to place more at other parks in the future.

Arrest Follows Shots Fired on Franklin Street
The Chapel Hill Police Department charged a man following shots fired in the 100 block of East Franklin Street just before 6pm. There are no reports of injuries.

Section of Community Center Park Closed Due to Early Environmental Test Results
The Town of Chapel Hill has closed one section of Community Center Park because of elevated levels of lead, cadmium, and petroleum compounds discovered in the soil. The Town is working with environmental experts to determine next steps.

International Soccer Returns to Chapel Hill July 23
International soccer is coming back to Chapel Hill this month. Manchester City will meet Celtic FC at Kenan Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, as part of the 2024 FC Series. This message includes information about shuttles and parking on game day.
