Sunny skies and above-freezing temperatures helped Town of Chapel Hill and NC Department of Transportation crews make progress on the cleanup of nearly a foot of snow left by Winter Storm Inga. We appreciate your patience as our crews work to return us to normal conditions as soon as possible.
Winter Storm Inga dropped between 10 and 12 inches of snow on Chapel Hill Wednesday, and extremely low overnight temperatures have made clean-up efforts difficult. Crews have been working around the clock and will continue until the town is returned to normal.
The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Please stay off the roads Thursday morning to allow our crews and the sun some time to clear the hazardous travel conditions left by Grayson last night.”
